Maimouna listened to songs and offered encouragement and suggestions to the youth based on her own experiences on her path to becoming a successful performer. Biography Maimouna “Lunar Eclipse” Youssef is a phenomenal vocalist, MC, musician and film- maker. She attended New York Film Academy where she completed her first short film entitled "Confronting Colonization." Maimouna was the winner of Baltimore Idol and a contestant on American Idol. She also is a member of Cirius B, which she formed with her cousin , Omari "North Star" Forman-Bey. They have collaborated to create their own unique hip hop style. Cirius B has performed at a number of exciting venues over the years. The pair was featured at the Down Home Folk Festival in Richmond, Virginia and performed at the premier of Haile Gerima's critically acclaimed film "Sankofa." In November 2002, accomplished actor Danny Glover requested that Cirius B perform for his inauguration as Chairman of TransAfrica in Washington, D.C. |
