Grand Prize Winner : Danny Thompson

Grand prize winner, Danny Thompson, received a studio package from Outta Control Entertainment to create his own demo CD. This package includes 10 hours of studio time for music production and creation of a demo CD. After the popularity of Danny’s song, I Can’t Breathe”, we know he will put this prize to good use!

Special thanks to Tre Barr for donating this prize. Tre Barr, CEO and Producer at Outta Control Entertainment has produced two nationally released CDs. His roster includes R&B band Yamama'nym as well as The Hardheadz, who won the Battle of the Bands' Contest at the University of Maryland and Towson State University in Maryland, and opened for major hip hop artists such as Black Eyed Peas and Twalib Kwali.

Second Prize Winner: Veronica Hines

For her song “Biodiversity”, second prize winner, Veronica Hines, received a “Behind the Scenes Tour” at WERQ—92Q, the number one hip hop radio station in Baltimore. She’ll visit the 92Q studios, meet her favorite DJs, and see how it all works! 

Other Prizes:

Our other prize winners were Jalyn Wilson, whose song “Wants Over Needs” won her a karaoke machine for rapping to even more beats, and Satarian Montgomery and Dashonn Gibson, performed “Our World”and won a gift certificate to pick up some more tunes from their favorite local music store.

All youth in the contest received writer’s kits to create more new rhymes. The kit included a rhyming dictionary and notebook made with recycled content paper.
